Summary:
Cover image: The matte green ventral wings of the Green Hairstreak butterfly, Callophrys rubi, are studded with scales consisting of chitin domains structured into gyroids. Local illumination of the domains with white light results in spectrally selective reflection of yellow-green and blue light into specific angular directions, which can be directly visualized with a novel imaging scatterometer (see Michielsen et al., p. 765 of this issue).
