The Ingenious and Learned Author of this Book considering with himself, that the Anatomy of Vegetables hath hitherto been much uncultivated, and that yet it very well deserved the labours of diligent Naturalists, hath here attempted to make a very particular Inquiry into the Constitution and Structure of Plants, and thereupon to found a rational Discourse concerning the nature of Vegetation.
